Lot 248 - 2007 Bentley Arnage T Mulliner
|Odometer reading||44,118 miles|
|Estimate||£44,000 - £50,000|
Not only is the Arnage T more expensive and more powerful than its predecessor, the Arnage Green and Red Label models, but it also claimed the title of world's fastest saloon, as it needs all but the last two spots on its 170mph speedometer. The Arnage T is powered by yet another version of 'ye olde' 6.75 litre Rolls-Royce, V8 engine, whose roots go back to 1959. Treated to what Bentley described as 'the most thorough re-engineering of its life', the 2007 model year cars produced a staggering 500bhp. This prodigious output, besides enabling this Bentley to reach 168mph, also sent it from 0 to 60mph in 5.2 seconds; the engine's most significant change being the switch from a single turbocharger to one for each bank of cylinders. Other changes included the adoption of a 'drive-by-wire' throttle to go hand-in-glove with Bosch's Electronic Stability Program which replaced the Red Label's traction control, but what really gives this nearly three-ton car its immense poise is a revised suspension that features 57 percent more roll stiffness than the Red Label. The car's basic structure is also 10% stiffer which means there are no creaks and squeaks of the sort that distinguished previous generations of Bentleys.
This Bentley was supplied originally by Jack Barclay in London and the current vendor purchased the car from them some 12 months ago. The all important service history has been carried out by Jack Barclay and we are advised the car will be serviced again at a Bentley main dealer prior to the auction. The stunning black with black interior and 'engine turned' dashboard contribute to making this a Bentley that has the feel of a sports car with the comfort of a limousine. The sumptuous 'cross stitched' leather seats are heated for additional comfort and the smaller rear window contribute to the sporty feel of this outstanding car. Supplied with a V5 registration document, original service books and a current MoT test certificate, this Arnage T Mulliner is in splendid condition.
Taking into account the original cost of £175,000 when new, this Bentley offers superb value given the estimate, mileage and condition.
