Lot 347 - 1995 Mercedes-Benz E320 Sportline Convertible
|Odometer reading||94,000 miles|
|Estimate||£13,000 - £16,000|
The debut vehicle for this line was the 300 CE-24 Cabriolet, built until 1993 until it was succeeded by the E320 Cabriolet which became a classic in its own right during its production period. What is more, it had the potential to become a genuine piece of automotive history since its production period was relatively brief and numbers built were relatively low. The design stems from their four-door counterparts with modern features such as the eccentric-sweep panoramic windscreen wiper, independent suspension and highly advanced safety systems. It is worth noting that the rear passengers benefitted from extendable headrests that could be electronically raised and lowered from both front and rear passenger compartments. These were also disguised roll-over hoops in the event of an accident. If un-extended, they automatically deployed in 0.3 seconds if sensors detected an 'unusual angle of attack'. The convertible roof stowed away under a rear panel leaving nothing above the body to disturb the cabriolet form.
This two-owner E320 Convertible was supplied by Norman of Park Lane and first registered on 16th August 1995. Finished in Azurite blue with mushroom leather trim and fitted with a navy hood, this is good specification vehicle benefitting from an electric hood, heated seats, air conditioning, walnut veneer and sports suspension. The alloy wheels have recently been refurbished and fitted with new Goodyear tyres. Supplied with a V5 registration document and a current MoT test certificate together with a history file, this desirable Sportline model is a delight to drive and has the flexibility of being a very useable, everyday convertible.
