With £600 million spent on research and development, it is clear to see why the Mercedes 190E was the instant success story that it was, capturing an unprecedented share of the compact executive saloon market in the late 1980's. Boasting a spectrum of new safety features including ABS and safety-belt pre tensioners, front and rear anti-roll bars, five-link suspension and anti-squat and anti-dive geometry, the cars quickly became renowned for comfort and capability.

This fine example is finished in rare Turquoise Metallic Beryll 888 with light grey cloth interior. The 1.8 litre engine is mated to a four-speed automatic gearbox with programme selector. Other factory options specified for this car includes electric lift & slide sunroof, Blaupunkt Cambridge radio/cassette stereo and middle console/cassette storage. The original bill of sale is retained in the history file and shows the cost in 1992 to be £17,988. This is a one family owned vehicle (mother, now in her 80's and then her son) with servicing that has been carried out exclusively at the Mercedes-Benz main dealers in Bournemouth and then specialists in Poole. The service booklet is fully stamped with 20 entries reflecting the annual service upkeep regardless of the low mileage between intervals.  In addition, the comprehensive history file contains 35 sales invoices from Connelly's Specialist Mercedes-Benz in Poole detailing expenditure in excess of £12,000 on maintenance. All 18 MoT test certificates are in the history file further verifying the low mileage. The First Aid kit, complete set of books, Mercedes wallet and Blaupunkt pamphlets are preserved as new.

The bodywork is in first class condition and the interior shows little, if any, sign of ageing. Headlining is in perfect condition and the carpets have retained their deep pile having been protected by good quality Mercedes-Benz overmats. The dashboard is unmarked with no evidence of sun damage. As to be expected from a one family owned car with such a comprehensive history, the car operates with great composure providing comfort and a smooth and refined driving experience. Currently carrying an MoT test certificate valid until May 2015, this superb example is described as totally reliable and a joy to own.
