Lot 276 - 1993 Bentley Continental R
|£30,000 - £35,000
Since 1921, the Bentley name has remained synonymous with prestige, performance and luxury. The 'Continental' designation recalls the Bentley Continental of the post-war period. The 'R' resonates to the R-Type Bentleys from the 1950's as well as the Turbo R of the 1980's. Bentley's 1980's resurgence relied exclusively on models whose basic architecture was shared with other Rolls-Royce products, however, the Bentley Continental R was unique to the Bentley marque. Despite the need to incorporate non-traditional features such as doors recessed into the roof, the result looked every bit a Bentley, albeit one re-stated for the 1990's. Needless to say, the performance was outstanding, the combination of the Turbo R engine in the new wind-cheating shape cutting the 0-60mph time to under six seconds and boosting top speed to in excess of 150mph.
This 1993 registered Continental R is finished in Racing Green with magnolia trim piped in spruce green and with spruce carpets. The dark walnut facia, waistrails and centre console are synonymous with such a luxury marque. This has been part of a collection for a number of years hence the low mileage which is substantiated by a service history. Aesthetically a Continental R is a beautiful design but this example is further enhanced by the fitment of a chrome radiator grille and matrix. Supplied with a V5 registration document and a current MoT test certificate, this represents excellent value in comparison to the price it was new. To drive a Continental R is a memorable experience; this car represents an opportunity to acquire an extremely fine example.
