Lot 209 - 1997 Ford Escort Ghia Cabriolet
|Result||Sold - £2,464|
The Ford Escort was manufactured from 1968 to 2002. The first use of the Escort name was for a reduced specification version of the Ford Squire, a 1950s estate car version of the Anglia 100E though this did not sell well by comparison to the other members of the 100E family. The Escort was revised in January 1995 (sixth generation) although it was still based on the previous model. This version had new front lights, bonnet, front wings, front and rear bumpers, wing mirrors, door handles and four different front radiator grills. The interior of the car was radically revised too featuring an all new dashboard arrangement of competitive quality. However, the underlying car was now five years old and most of its rivals were either new or to be imminently replaced.
This Escort Ghia Cabriolet was originally supplied by Dagenham Motors in Worthing on 30th October 1997. It presents in excellent condition and the mileage of 42,315 appears to be correct although not warranted. We are advised by the vendor that R375 DYJ drives very well with no known faults. The red coachwork is in good order and the interior is original and in equally good shape. Owned by an enthusiast, it is only being sold due to lack of suitable storage space. Supplied with a V5 registration document and an MoT test certificate valid until 31st July 2015 (no advisories). Modern classic Fords have been creating huge amounts of interest of late, this is sure to do the same. Offered at no reserve.
