There is a certain romance about Italian coach building houses that has held a certain amount of glamour with, not only the Japanese, but also with the rest of the world. Zagato, one of the smaller Italian coachbuilders, was known for more daring designs than their Italian cousins and it is one of these designs that we are offering today. This Nissan Skyline Autech Stelvio Zagato is number 40 of 104 cars produced and is a truly handbuilt motor car.

Based on the F31 Nissan Leopard, the Stelvio comes equipped with an Autech tuned VG30DET V6 3000cc, quad-cam turbo engine producing over 280ps (it is actually believed that all these cars produced 30-40hp more). During manufacture, Autech tuned the engine and the suspension then the base frame, engine and suspension were sent off to Italy for the bodywork and interior. The four speed automatic gearbox also has a useful overdrive incorporated within it. The cabin boasts specially selected leathers and wood with about every electrical gadget available in 1989. In fact, Autech originally wanted to incorporate a small hatch on the drivers' side just behind the front door so that a briefcase could easily be stowed behind the front seat (not big enough for a passenger), but was left out as costs for the car spiralled upwards. The interior is finished in true Italian style and is a statement of luxury in contrast to the 1980s, hard-edged chic styling of the exterior. Those pods on the front wings, for example, house the wing mirrors and certainly give the car an imposing look from the front. Interestingly, Zagato simultaneously contracted Aston Martin at the same time and produced the Aston Martin V8 Zagato; there are many astonishing similarities that may be seen between both cars. Imported from Japan in early 2014, this rare Zagato is UK registered with an MoT test certificate valid until June 2015.

Japanese performance engineering mated to Italian styling and luxury. The Stelvio is a very rare sight on any roads throughout the world today and even rarer to find one for sale in the UK and we think offered at a very realistic estimate. The Stelvio is certainly something different for the weekend.
