Lot 296 - 1964 Cadillac Coupé de Ville
|Estimate||£7,000 - £10,000|
The' de Ville' tag was originally a trim level and later a model of Cadillac the marque. The first car to bear the name was the 1949 Coupe de Ville, the top level of the Series 62 luxury coupe. Over the next twelve years Cadillac Coupe de Ville was restyled and re-engineered. In 1961, the second generation was introduced with a complete remodel, the new grille slanted backwards towards both the bumper and the bonnet edge along the horizontal plane and sat between dual headlamps. A mild face lift characterised Cadillac styling trends for 1962, a flatter grille with a thicker horizontal centre bar and more delicate cross-hatched insert appeared. In overall terms the 1963 Cadillac was essentially the same as the previous year but the exterior changes imparted a bolder and longer look with bonnets and boot lids being redesigned.
This 1964 Cadillac two-door Coupé de Ville with the seven litre 340hp engine and Turbo-Hydramatic gearbox was imported to the UK in 1993. This very good example is finished in light blue with a white vinyl roof and blue interior and is supplied with a V5C registration document and old Mot test certificates which go back to 2001. The vendor informs us that the car will have a current Mot test certificate when it comes to the auction. Being a Cadillac, this is the top of the range 1960's Americana.
