The MGB was launched in May 1962 to replace the MGA. Introduced as a four-cylinder roadster, a coupé, with 2+2 seating, was added in 1965. The MGB was a relatively modern design at the time of its introduction utilising a monocoque structure instead of the traditional 'body-on-frame' construction used on both the MGA and MGT types. The lightweight design reduced manufacturing costs while adding to overall vehicle strength. Wind-up windows were standard and a comfortable driver's compartment offered plenty of legroom. The MGB's performance was considered brisk at the time of its introduction with a 0-60mph time of just over 11 seconds aided by the relatively light weight of the car. Handling was certainly one of the MGB's strong points.
This delightful MGB offered in Blaze Red with black trim has covered just 117,595 miles since new; having had a new manual with overdrive gearbox fitted in 2004 and offered together with receipts for other sympathetic work carried out between 1989 and 2004, the care during previous ownership is clearly demonstrated. This little roadster has been since dry stored since 2002 and declared SORN recently which has kept the remarkable mileage low but also protected it from the elements. It is supplied with a current MoT test certificate together with many old MoT's and countless other receipts and is a lovely example and a great way to enjoy wind in your hair motoring.
