Lot 304 - 1971 12987 280SE, 3.5 litre
|Result||Sold - £10,080|
The 280SE (3.5 litre) cars were Mercedes-Benz's first V8-powered sports cars. A combination of elegant styling coupled with effortless performance made them highly desirable and they were every bit as prestigious as their competitors. From the outset, these German automobiles emphasised quality and the cars featured a new interior with more wood and leather upholstery as standard. The 3.5 litre V8 engine was highly advanced with electronic fuel injection and transistorised ignition.
Owned by the current owner for the last eight years, this well presented example benefits from light but regular use during this time. It has also been regularly maintained by a local Mercedes-Benz specialist, Auto Technic in Norfolk. One or two minor bodywork issues were taken care of in 2008 with full details in the accompanying history file. This also includes the extensive service history, log book history, current (and previous) MoT test certificates and tax discs. Elegant and reliable, this fine example is powered by the desirable 3.5 litre engine and so has no problem in keeping up with today's traffic.
