The 280SE (3.5 litre) cars were Mercedes-Benz's first V8-powered
sports cars. A combination of elegant styling coupled with
effortless performance made them highly desirable and they were
every bit as prestigious as their competitors. From the outset,
automobiles emphasised quality and the cars featured a new interior with more wood and leather upholstery as standard. The 3.5 litre V8 engine was highly advanced with electronic fuel injection and transistorised ignition.
Extremely well cared for and presenting in fine condition
throughout, this desirable 3.5 litre example has been restored in
recent years sporting a period colour scheme of metallic gold
with matching hubcaps and interior. The wooden door-cappings are in excellent condition and the interior trim in general is in good order. There is a modern Becker-style radio installed which blends in seamlessly as well as disguising a cd player. The security-etched, electric windows are all fully functioning and raise and lower with gusto; it also benefits from brand new Michelin tyres all round, including the spare. Supplied with a number of invoices for general maintenance as well as a UK V5C document and MoT test certificate valid until May, 2014, this elegant touring car is competitively offered and is a clean and straight example.
