London in the East End, 1969 - The Beatles are Kings of the hit parade; America and the USSR are the only nuclear superpowers and the arrest and pending trial of the Kray Twins, self-appointed Princes of the East End, dominate the headlines. An MoD facility in West London is destroyed by an explosion and the ensuing fire is the prelude to the events that lead our heroes, Danny & Kenny (Jack Huston & Ray Winstone) to attempt to sell a lump of Uranium. And so begins the plot of 'The Hot Potato', featuring a third star, a certain red Jaguar…
Sympathetically restored in 1987 with bright red coachwork and a tan interior, this factory automatic saloon benefits from reclining front seats and picnic tables to the rear. The door cappings and dash top have been replaced but the real story is underneath. The engine has had a comprehensive top-end rebuild and de-coke. New shims, pistons, rings have also been fitted as well as a full carburettor rebuild. The front brakes and suspension have also been meticulously dis-assembled and re-built with new discs, pads and calipers. The back end also has re-built calipers and new pads. The body shell is described by the vendor as completely sound although there is evidence of minor corrosion to the lower doors and boot edge. With the oily parts restored, a twelve month MoT test certificate and a plentiful history file, this could represent an excellent opportunity to finish off a classic Jaguar with a fascinating past.
