When the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow was released to the public in October 1965, the development departments were showing the result of work carried out over a period of some ten years. The new series was characterised by surprisingly modern features and with their development, Rolls-Royce broke new ground and away from many sacred design principles. The new models were technically striking in three ways: a monocoque chassis was used, all wheels were sprung independently and four wheel disc brakes now ensured stopping power of the kind expected in a modern car. Under the bonnet the V8 engine which had been introduced in the Silver Cloud series was employed. In February 1977, the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II was introduced. Outwardly the models were identifiable by bumpers with rubber inserts and edges made from polyurethane. The most notable changes mechanically were to the rack and pinion steering and modifications to the front suspension which improved handling markedly.

Supplied by H.R.Owen in Berkeley Street, Mayfair on 18th January 1980, this example has been owned by the current vendor since 2005. Finished in white with grey leather trim and supplied with the original service book together with the literature pack. Also supplied is a V5 registration document and an MoT test certificate valid until 7th August 2014, confirming the car is structurally sound. Best described as a useable project, this Rolls-Royce could prove to be value for money given the guide price of £3,500-£5,000 and taking into account it is offered at no reserve.
