Lot 210 - 1925 Indian Sidecar and frame
|Estimate||£500 - £1,000|
|Result||Sold - £1,008|
A sidecar is a one-wheeled device attached to the side of a motorcycle or scooter, producing a three-wheeled vehicle; a motorcycle with a sidecar is often referred to as a 'combination'. In the UK and other countries which drive on the left side of the road, sidecars are normally fitted on the near-side (left side) of motorcycles, enabling the rider to be on the off-side (right side). In the UK, sidecars fitted to the right-side of the motorcycle are prohibited on motorcycles registered after August 1981.
Here we have a genuine Indian Sidecar that has been used in the UK and has a left-sided frame. However, the original Indian frame is also supplied, although it is in need of restoration. The passenger pod of this sidecar has been in dry storage for a number of years and presents in good condition.
