Lot 257 - 1951 Ariel Square Four Mk. I
|Odometer reading||8,333 miles|
|Estimate||£8,500 - £9,500|
|Result||Sold - £8,960|
Despatched from the factory on 10th October, 1951 to Godfrey's Ltd, London Rd, Croydon, this example was actually a 1952 model. Completely stripped and restored in the early nineties by the previous owner, the bike remains in very nice condition. The history file contains a good photographic record of the project and some invoices for the work done which included an engine rebuild. The mileage is unknown at that time; however, it is now showing 8,333 miles. A dating certificate that accompanies this motorcycle confirms that it retains its original engine and gearbox. It is in good running order and cosmetically, still very clean. The bodywork is showing signs of age; the tank and mudguards are not perfect but still sound, and the frame is showing no signs of corrosion. A good usable example with nice patina, the vendor informs us that it will come to auction with a new MoT test certificate and is supplied with a current UK V5C logbook.
