Lot 265 - 1972 Harley-Davidson MC-65 “Shortster”
|Odometer reading||68 miles|
|Estimate||£1,300 - £1,700|
Aermacchi-Harley-Davidson produced the little Model MC-65 Shortster in 1972 using the same engine fit in the larger "Leggero" model. The Shortster utilized a large tube-backbone frame and incorporated hydrolic suspension front and rear. With full lighting, a speedometer, and cross-braced handlebars the compact light-weight bike came equipped with a two-up seat, upswept exhaust with a chrome heat shield, and stainles-steel fenders. At just 126 pounds, it was the Motor Company's smalles motorcycle and its first minibike, produced in 1972 it was the only year this machine was called the Shortster and the only year it used a 65cc engine. For 1973, it featured a 90cc engine with a four-speed transmission and was renamed the X-90.
This very rare 65cc Harley Davidson "Shortster" which is not to be confused with the X-90 is one of only 800 ever built. All of this machines life has been spent in a museum/collection in the U.S.A and unfortunately is now described as a non runner.
