Lot 223 - 1970 BSA 175 Bantam
|Odometer reading||20,942 miles|
|Result||Sold - £450|
The Bantam is a two-stroke motorcycle that was produced by the Birmingham Small Arms Company (BSA) from 1948 through to 1971. Exact production figures are unknown, but it was over 250,000 and some estimates place the number closer to half a million. The original Bantam continued in production for several years, it had telescopic forks, a rigid rear end, direct electrics, shovel front-mudguard and fishtail silencer, was available only in 'mist green' and sold for £60 plus tax. Although the frame changed out of recognition, the engine remained a recognizable development of the original for the entire 23 years of production.
This 175cc BSA has been stored for a number of years and although appears to be complete, will require some restoration work. We advised that the engine 'kicks over' and seems to have good compression. The new owner will need to apply for a registration document for CPD192H. Offered at no reserve this Bantam could prove to be a real bargain.
