Lot 328 - 1972 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow I
|Odometer reading||24,368 miles|
|Estimate||£7,000 - £9,000|
The Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow was the first to be constructed using a monocoque chassis and to date has the largest production volume of any Rolls-Royce. The original Shadow was 3½ inches narrower and seven inches shorter than the Silver Cloud which it replaced, but managed to offer increased passenger and luggage space thanks to more efficient packaging made possible by its advanced design. The superb ride quality in the Silver Shadow was achieved due to the innovative high-pressure hydraulic system with dual-circuit braking and hydraulic self-levelling suspension. In short, there is nothing quite like riding in a Rolls-Royce, and this example is no exception.
This very collectable example is offered in Silver Sand with beige trim; a series one version which has been owned by the previous keeper for the past 26 years and, as such, an extensive history accompanies the car. Fitted with a 50w Pioneer radio and multi disc c.d. player; featured in the 2002 film 'Bend it like Beckham', this Silver Shadow is also offered with a 12 month's MoT test certificate and is now a road fund licence exempt vehicle.
