Lot 317 - 1983 TVR Tasmin 200, Series II
|Odometer reading||91,940 miles|
|Result||Sold - £1,132|
The TVR Tasmin or 200 is a sports car designed and built from 1980 through to 1988. It was the first of TVR's 'Wedge' series which formed the basis of virtually all the 1980's range. The styling of the car was by Oliver Winterbottom who had previously styled the Lotus Elite S2. Available as a 2+2 fixedhead coupé or as a two-seater convertible, the Tasmin was the first production car in the world to have both a bonded windscreen and also to incorporate the aerial into the rear screen heater element. As with all TVR's, the running gear was located in a tubular spaceframe steel chassis which was powder coated for corrosion resistance and powered by a four cylinder two litre Ford Pinto unit.
There is little history with this now hard to find example of TVR's early Tasmin series car. It has been stored outside for some time although, since the photographs were taken, a team of experienced mechanics are preparing the car for the sale. This process will include a full body overhaul to expose the original paintwork as well as the interior receiving some attention. The engine was running at time of going to press and a full one year MoT certificate will be supplied. With the Blackpool firm no longer in existence, these early cars are something of a rarity.
