The Corniche was Rolls-Royce's coupé and convertible version of the Silver Shadow and was produced between 1971 and 1996. It was originally named 'Silver Shadow Mulliner Park Ward Two Door Fixedhead Coupé' before 1971 when the Corniche name was applied. The exterior design was by John Polwhele Blatchley. The independent coach maker, James Young, had already custom-made a two-door coupé variant of the Silver Shadow but Young's model proved less popular and was soon discontinued. The model was assembled and finished in London at Mulliner Park Ward as a continuation of the 1965 Silver Shadow coupé and 1967 drophead coupé. The Corniche was also sold as a Bentley although that model became known as the Continental in 1984.

This extremely fine Rolls-Royce Corniche has been cherished by all of her owners.  Supplied new to Mr. A.J. Bingley in April 1971, the ownership changed in the mid 1970's to a Mr. Caplan. The next owner was Sir Robert Balchin, Baron Lingfield, who purchased the car in 1979 and kept it for eight years, selling it in 1987 by which time the car had covered 68,000 miles. The next owner, Mr. Bradford, only kept it for a couple of years before selling it in 1989 to Lord Abbots-Hay. The vendor purchased the car from the last owner who acquired it from Lord Abbots-Hay in the late 2000's. This Rolls-Royce Corniche Fixedhead Coupé is finished in the original Larch Green with off-white leather, and comes supplied with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires on the 24th October 2013, copies of the chassis cards and history file from the Rolls-Royce Enthusiast's Club, a large file containing old MoT test certificates, invoices and correspondence from the previous owners and the original owner's hand book with the crests of both Baron Lingfield and Lord Abbots-Hay in the front cover. This is a rare opportunity to purchase a Rolls-Royce Corniche with an outstanding history and one that has covered just 22,000 miles in the last 26 years.
