Lot 211 - 1970 Triumph TR6
|Odometer reading||51,000 miles|
|Result||Sold - £7,840|
The Triumph TR6 began production in 1969 and by the time its run ended in July 1976, had become the best seller of the TR range. In total 94,619 TR6's were built, of which 86,249 were sold overseas and only 8,370 sold in the UK. The bodywork closely resembled that of the previous model, the TR5, but the front and rear were squared off and all TR6's featured inline six-cylinder engines. It also featured a four-speed manual transmission and an optional equipment overdrive unit - a desirable feature giving drivers close-gearing for spirited driving while remaining excellent touring cars for open motorways.
This TR6 was first registered on 1st January 1970 and is finished in blue with black trim. The current vendor is an avid classic car enthusiast and has described his example as being great fun to drive. Subject to a restoration project in the 1990's, UNJ 740H is fitted with twin S.U. carburettors and is in good order throughout although it could benefit from some additional tlc. It comes supplied with a V5 registration document, an MoT test certificate valid until 20th June 2013 and, together with a good degree of service history, this Triumph TR6 represents an excellent opportunity to purchase a respected classic.
