The first production Mustang rolled off the assembly line in Dearborn, Michigan on March 9, 1964 and was introduced to the public at the New York World's Fair on April 17, 1964.  It was, and remains, one of the most successful product launches in automotive history. The Mustang sold over one million units in its first 18 months on the market and its legend lives on with revised models still in production today after 43 years.

This striking example has received an exterior re-paint within the last four years as well as Tempest Grey Le Mans stripes and matching painted side strips. It has been fitted with new exterior chrome at the same time including front and rear bumpers, GT fog lights, taillight bezels, gas cap, handles and mirrors. The hood is a moulded fibreglass piece with functional air scoop and all the glass is in good condition and original. The interior has also been restored receiving full new deluxe Pony upholstery with new seat foam, carpets, floor mats, interior paint, instrument bezel and glove box door.

A factory option at the time was the 'Rally Pac' which included two extra dials on the steering column and braces within the engine bay and features on this car. It also benefits from a Clifford Concept 650 Mk. II Thatcham category 1 alarm and immobiliser, although the exhaust note on start-up is just as loud. The engine is a period 1965 unit, fully restored in the USA prior to shipping with all new rotating assemblies such as pistons, crank and camshafts. A brand new duel-core aluminium radiator and transmission cooler can also be found under the 'hood' as well as an additional Tri-Power (three, two barrel carburettors) induction system reproducing the original Ford Tri-Power upgrade available in the mid 1960's.

The gearbox has also been recently rebuilt by specialists including a new torque converter and flexplate. The exhaust is in two parts, Scott Drake stainless steel headers followed by a Magnaflow three inch stainless steel system. The front brakes were upgraded to powered front disc brakes from SSBC (Force 10) and the rear units have been completely overhauled with new shoes and drums. The wheels come with brand new tyres and the overall effect, as specifically designed by vendor, is one of a well-spec'd, original and good looking Mustang Fastback.
