The MGB was launched in May 1962 to replace the MGA. Introduced as a four-cylinder roadster, a coupé with 2+2 seating was added in 1965 with production continuing until October 1980. The MGB GT sported a ground-breaking design by Pininfarina on launching the sporty 'hatchback' style. By combining the sloping rear window with the rear deck lid, the GT offered the utility of a hatchback while retaining the style and shape of a coupé. This new configuration was a 2+2 design with a right-angled rear bench seat and far more luggage space than in the Roadster. Relatively few components differed although the MGB GT did receive different suspension springs and anti-roll bars and a modified windscreen which was more easily and inexpensively serviceable. Acceleration of the GT was slightly slower than that of the Roadster due to its increased weight. Top speed improved by 5mph to 105mph due to better aerodynamics.

This interesting MGB GT Coupé was first registered on 1st August 1980; however, during the restoration project carried out in 1996, the car was modified to look like an older model with chrome bumpers. Leather trim is also fitted as is a highly sort after MGC bonnet, enhancing the aesthetic appearance, and a manual with overdrive gearbox is also fitted.  A history file dating back to August 2001 accompanies the MGB together with a V5 registration document and a full year's MoT test certificate. Combining the 'best of the old' with the 'best of the new', this MGB GT Coupé makes for a highly useable classic.
