Introduced early in 1971, this impressive two-seater sports car replaced the 280SL. The body and chassis of the 3rd generation Mercedes-Benz SL was considerably heavier and longer than its predecessor but still showed a resemblance to them. The front and rear axles were similar to those of the 200-250 models, with independent wheel suspension using double wishbones and anti-drive control at the front and a diagonal swing axle at the rear. A four speed fluid-coupling automatic transmission was available as an option. The 3.5 litre, V8 engine underwent slight modifications to those being used on other models and the gear shift lever was placed on the floor in the centre of the car. The standard transmission provided a top speed of 130mph and a very respectable 0-62mph in 8.8 seconds. As with the previous generation SL's, the vehicle came as an open roadster with removable hard top and went on to become one of the longest running styles from Mercedes-Benz.

This classic automatic, righthand drive Mercedes-Benz 350SL is in good condition throughout. Finished in blue with blue cloth interior and original carpets, the car comes with the colour matched factory hardtop and the correct wheels. The last registered keeper purchased the car in 1992 and it was used regularly until the late 1990's. This 350SL was subject to some restoration in 2000 and has only covered 7000 miles in the last twelve years. The car is supplied with a V5C registration document, a file of bills and MoT test certificates confirming the mileage and history, an original handbook and a collection of Cherished Car Valuation Certificates.  A fabulous, open car for the long hot summer that is to come.
