Lot 363a - 1953 Wolseley 6/80
|Result||Sold - £672|
The Wolseley 4/50 and similar 6/80 were Wolseley Motor Company's first post-war motor car. They were rushed into production in 1948 and were based on the Morris Oxford MO and the Morris Six MS respectively.
This 1953 6/80 fitted with the 2215cc 72hp straight-6 single overhead cam engine is very sound with little visible corrosion and is over 95% complete. Finished in maroon with the original grey interior, this is an ideal restoration project to build into a period Police car or a car for the numerous rallies around the country. The car, when new, was reckoned to offer a good power-to-weight ratio in combination with steering and suspension sufficiently excellent to permit to be 'thrown around without detriment to the car and with little discomfort to the occupants'.
