Lot 54 - 1998 Bentley Azure by Pininfarina
|Odometer reading||34,500 miles|
|Estimate||£55,000 - £65,000|
The Bentley Azure was launched in 1995, based on the platform of the Continental R coupé which had been launched in 1991. At 210 inches in length and 2,610 kg in weight, the Azure often surprised onlookers with its size and bulk, intended to both convey a sense of presence and allow for comfortable seating of four adult passengers.
Power came from the company's stalwart 6.75 Litre V8, featuring a single, intercooled Garrett turbocharger that produced in the region of 380 HP. The gearbox was a General Motors sourced 4-speed automatic unit and the Azure boasted a 0 to 60 mph in 6.1 seconds, indeed the Azure was very fast for a car of its size and weight
Owing to the limited space and workforce at Bentley's Crewe factory, the Azure was designed and manufactured by Pininfarina, which significantly added to the vehicle's cost. From 1999 through the end of production, the Azure was also available in ""Mulliner"" trim, which added special bespoke trim and additional equipment and allowed the buyer the option for further customization during the build-process; pricing varied by car, as equipment could be significantly different from one to the next depending on customer requests.
This righthand drive Azure is finished in British racing green coachwork with magnolia hide and green piping. First registered in November 1998 and maintained by Bentley main dealers Broughtons of Birmingham until 2002 when the mileage read 19,588. Bentley Glasgow serviced the car in 2005 with mileage at 28,430 and during the vendors' ownership the car has been maintained by a factory trained Bentley specialist in London.
Presented in excellent condition with the current mileage reading just 34,500 miles, this low mileage Azure has had just three owners and is supplied with its handbooks and service books, Alpine CD hi-fi system, UK V5 registration, current MoT road test certificate valid to March 2011 and road fund licence to April 2011. An ideal opportunity to acquire a coachbuilt Bentley convertible with attractive Italian styling and that is perhaps the ideal summer touring car, not to mention excellent future investment potential.
