The Ford Mustang is an American automobile icon and was originally based on the Ford Falcon compact. The first production Mustang rolled off the assembly line in Dearborn, Michigan on March 9, 1964, and was introduced to the public at the New York World's Fair on April 17, 1964.  It was, and remains one of the most successful product launches in automotive history.

The Mustang sold over one million units in its first 18 months on the market, and its legend lives on with revised models still in production today after 43 years.  Ford added a Fastback to its 1965 Mustang line-up, but the convertible holds a special place in American culture and was heavily publicised as 'a car to escape the mundane nature of life.'

YRD499C has the desirable 289cu in (4,727cc) 210bhp small-block V8 engine and Cruise-o-Matic three-speed automatic transmission, while other noteworthy features include factory air conditioning, rare front bench seat and black leather interior.

Finished in Signal Flame Red, black carpets and black convertible top, it is offered with V5 registration document and current MoT test certificate until July 2011 and some paperwork from its time in America. A rare opportunity to acquire a highly collectible, first-of-the-line example of this landmark model, in its most desirable soft-top configuration.
