How to Sell

We can offer you an inexpensive and effective route to market;

To discuss the sale of an item, please contact us by telephone or via our website/e-mail, with full details.  Our staff will then discuss with you our forthcoming auctions, arrange appointments and disuss photography. A complementary catalogue will then be sent to you which allows you entry to the sale.

Whilst submitting a lot for auction is straightforward and our staff will do most of the work for you, there are three important aspects to bear in mind when it comes to entering an item for sale:

The Reserve is simply the lowest figure that you are prepared to accept for your item on the day of the sale.  This figure is confidential and therefore not available to potential purchasers.  It is, however, subject to commission.

By way of advice, a higher Reserve may dissuade a percentage of potential customers from bidding, whereas a lower Reserve is far more likely to get more people interested.

'It is always far easier to encourage people to continue to bid than it is to get them going in the first instance.'

The Commission Rate is subject to VAT and is simply a percentage that we deduct from the final hammer price.

Historics Commission Rate is 10% + VAT (Automobilia - 15% + vat)

(Please note vat is now chargable at 20%)

The Entry Fee. All lots are subject to an entry fee which covers administrative, publication and marketing aspects associated with catalogue production and general event management.

The Historics Entry Fee is £100 + VAT (Automobilia - £0)

If your lot is sold successfully, your funds will be forwarded to you within 14 days.

All sale proceeds will be paid into a "Segregated Trust Account" managed by Coutts & Co, the bankers. This account does not form part of our company's assets and is therefore secure for the seller and buyer.
