The Triumph TR6 superseded the TR5 in 1969 and, by the time
production ended in 1976, had become the best selling TR only later
surpassed by the TR7. In total 94,619 TR6's were produced
with the vast majority sold overseas; 90% of which being of US
specification.
Presented today is a UK supplied 1974 model first owned by a
Triumph assembly line worker. Currently in the present
ownership for the past seven years, this TR6, has undergone a no
expense spared upgrade to fast touring specification; the vendor
wishing to have a reliable and fast touring car resulting in
several successfully completed trips to the continent and Ireland.
The complete specifications list is too numerous to mention here
but does include; a gas flowed head, new valve guides, unleaded
fuel conversion, stainless steel swan necked valves, fast road cam,
a mildly lightened flywheel, Bosch fuel pump and electronic
ignition. A stainless steel six branch extractor manifold
(6-3-2-1) with a Phoenix single big bore exhaust has also been
fitted. With these engine works having been carried out, 148bhp was
recorded at the back wheels at 5000rpm on the Southam Mini Centre
rolling road in 2010. Further upgrades include a new clutch, an
overhauled four speed gearbox and overdrive which are mated to a
balanced prop shaft, Koni adjustable dampers, anti roll bar,
uprated springs, rear mini fin drum brakes, drilled front discs
brakes and poly bush suspension rubbers. Strengthening to the front
suspension and chassis has also been carried out. In 2005 the
coachwork was stripped to bare metal and re-finished in Carmine
red. More recently a new galvanised windscreen surround was
fitted. This TR6 sits upon a set of new Minilite alloy wheels
shod with new tyres; additional brake lights have been fitted for
that extra safety factor and for comfort whilst touring, a set of
cloth Mazda MX5 seats have been fitted. The vendor wishes it to be
known that all parts and works during the current ownership have
been supplied and carried out by TR Enterprises apart from the
electronic ignition which was undertaken by Jigsaw Racing. A full
specification list is supplied within the history file.
Please note that the badges fitted on the front and the CB radio
and aerial within the photographs are not included in the sale.
With a recent MoT certificate and current road fund licence, this
is an opportunity for a lucky new owner to jump into a high
specification TR and enjoy it straight away.
